Day 13, 8/14/01Weather: Sunny Paddle: Brooks to Bunsbies On the way back through the Acous peninsula we stop at the site of a native village. We find a beautiful campsite in the Bunsbies - a large sandy beach on a small island. Day 14, 8/15/01Weather: Sunny morning, fog by 10am Paddle: Day paddle in the Bunsbies Day 15, 8/16/01Weather: Overcast, light drizzle, south wind. Paddle: Bunsbies to Kyuquot to near Fair Harbor In the morning, when it is time to leave the Bunsbies, there is a strong wind blowing from the south. Paddling is going to be difficult. We make a plan, stay together, and make good progress. Half way through we pass by an island. We are only expecting a short break in the lee of the island, but we are more fortunate than that. In a small channel between two islands I find a tiny, tiny beach which can be approached with not too much difficulty. We are able to get out, stretch our legs, and empty bladders. From there we bend our paddles toward the restaurant in Kyuquot where we get another fine meal. This is their last day of the season (which is surprising because it is not all that late in the season.) Unfortunately, no mocha blasts this time. |
