We are near the Porcupine river and have time to spare so we take a layover on this nice gravel bar. Sean tries to paddle out to fish in the river. He is just able to keep from being swept down stream. When he grabs the log he planned to tie off to he nearly tips. When he sees us rush to the riverbank with our cameras he decides it is time to return to land. While on this gravel bar the river rises abut 3 ft.
The lower sheenjek becomes wide and slow. The Porcupine is wider yet but generally has a good current. This day is calm and we spend as much time as possible drifting in the current. The second day on the Porcupine is windy and we work quite hard.
