Capitol Reef

Monday we got up at 5am dark and hiked to the base of the Moroni slopes to descend Seger's Hole canyon. When we got to the base the air was still cold and there was a dark cloud to the west. Forecast was for bad weather over the next couple days so we turned around.

From Hidden Splendor I flew Marshal up to Greenriver for gas then down to Bullfrog where we napped under the wing until Jeff showed up. We camped out the Burr Trail and made ourselves a very nice dinner.

Sunday we "got up early" and flew to Page with some sight seeing over the southern Capitol Reef and Escalante. I was particularly interested in this area as I've done several very nice hikes here.

But the flight down turned out to be turbulent. In Page we found the winds were 30 knots. I was not too keen on trying to land on the Narrow runway at Bullfrog so we decided to spend the day. Our dam tour was canceled due to wind, we checked our e-mail at the library, hiked a local canyon, ate good Mexican food, and stayed at an interesting little hotel in the "old quarter".

Next morning we really got up early and were climbing into the plane at dawn. Air was dead calm and we had a pleasant flight cruising slow over the canyons around Navajo Mountain. Back in Bullfrog we all took serious naps then hiked Smith Fork canyon.

Boulder

We were getting a little tired of doing day canyons so we flew to the town of Boulder with the general idea of looking for real-estate.

After Boulder I dropped them off in Bullfrog and flew to meet them at Hanksville. I flew up the east side of Capitol Reef which was a beautiful and interesting as I had hoped
