On top it started to rain so we put our jackets on. Then it stopped so we took them off. |

We hiked to this rocky provenance. |
We crossed a high plateau then started working down into Bowdie canyon. |
Sean lead us up this dead end with a great view. |
An interesting formation - a sort of rod weathering out. About 1" diameter. |
Very health cactus bundle. |
Descent into Bowdie canyon. We are working toward the ridge at the right. |
Ohoh, storm coming. I think it may pass us. 20 minutes latter it does not and we get wet. We wait under overhangs hoping it will stop quickly, then decide to hike anyway. |
Just before reaching the canyon floor we find this great overhand with signs of recent use so we decide to camp here. |
View of the canyon below us. Elizabeth and I get water. We have such a snug camp I hope that it rains all night so we can appreciate how comfortable we are. Unfortunately it stops within an hour. |
| |
Camp in the morning. |
Great view from camp. |
A better view of the overhang. |

Sean and I found a large pool and had to jump in. |
Returning to camp. You can't really see our stuff from the canyon floor. Route in and out on rubble to right. |
Closer view of our camp. It is the middle ledge. |
Joe looking for arrow heads. |
| |
Marie and Joe went back to camp together. On their way they explored more ledges and came across
the ruins we were looking for. We decide to all go there the next day.
The ledge after we left. Though it had signs of recent use I think that really is an ancient site. |
Two caves. |
Sean in one cave. Pits from pot hunters? |
Elizabeth in the most interesting cave. |
Joe pointing out the interesting pit at the rear. |

Very beautiful canyon with a nice stream flowing through most of it. |
Working through the brush. |
Large trees near spring area. |

Letter K drawn with gun shots. This is a landmark for the route. |
Marie and Elizabeth on the climb out. |
After climbing out of the canyon we walked along benches then over domes. Here Joe climbed up into an alcove. |
We got onto the plateau and hiked to this old runway, one of the landmarks. |
Joe contemplating. |
Group. |
From the runway we dropped into the head of Lean To canyon and camped. |
Beautiful evening light. |
We camped on this windy slick rock ledge. Marie wanted to set the tent up but I didn't. I wanted to do the whole trip under the stars. Marie won. Well, by 10pm it was snowing on us and I was very glad to have the tent set up. |
