Navajo Mountain

I met Richard Lintermans at the Page Airport and we flew to Navajo mountain to do a hike around the mountain. Really, the main attraction here is Anasazi canyon, but we are getting to it by doing a loop hike around the mountain. I first heard about Anasazi in an Outside article by Jon Krakauer and David Roberts about ten years ago. Over the years I looked for clues as to where it is until I had a rough route description. This is all I wanted as Anasazi canyon was one of the last untracked - un-route descripted - untraveled places in utah. It is not such a mystery these days as you can find descriptions in guide books and hire guides to take you there, but it still sees very little traffic

The whole trip around Navajo mountain was far more beautiful than I expected. The trail is good and the country beautiful. An interesting alternative to circumnavigation is to hike down to Rainbow bridge and catch a boat back to Page.
