In August we did a 3 week trip down the Sheenjek river. This flows south from the crest of the Brooks range in NE Alaska. We took a bush flight from Fort Yukon to the upper Sheenjek then paddled back to For Yukon.
Since we had to fly in we needed folding boats that could be carried inside a Cessna 185. Marie and I bought an Ally. Here we are assembling it for the first time
Participatns were Marie Mills, Tom Unger, Billie Butterfield, and Sean Sirutis.
Getting up to the Sheenjek mainly involved sheparding a large pile of gear through several airports. We flew Seattle to Fairbanks then transfered to Wright air and flew to Fort Yukon where we spent the night in our Bush Pilot's corner of the airport.

Marie and Billie flew to Arctic Village on a scheduled flight where Kirk picked them up and brought them to the Sheenjek.
